Back in 2003 I bought a new Kawasaki Z-1000, put 4000 miles on it in just a month, and had a van take up my share of the road in a sweeping curve so I left the road at 60 mph.
Went in a wet grassy ditch only to find out it was to slick to get back on the road, I hit a Drain Pipe.

First my head went into the handle bars ( I had a full faced helmet ) then my hips hit the bars, all this time me and the bike was going over the pipe in one big flip. The bike landed just over the pipe onto the driveway, I took the high road 50 feet or more in the air only to land on my butt, that broke my back, my T-12 L-1 vertebra crushed in and severed my spine, my left knee broke as my right ankle and 4 ribs. I don’t remember much after that but a fast ride to the ER.

My wife was told that I had too many brakes along with internal bleeding for them to mess with me, so a plane ride to Atlanta Ga it was.

Went to the Shepards Center for Spinal Trauma, spent two weeks waiting for my surgery.

After that I was in rehab for the next month to recoup from have’n my butt kick from the crash. I was told I would NEVER walk again as my spine was completely cut, OK shoes will last me a long time now.

Also found out my job let me go as they figured I’d never come back anyway, so they cut my insurance off !!!!!!!!!!! I still had like 4 weeks left and needed to get a wheelchair. WOW thanks.

The time came for me to come home, before I got home I had my wife stop in at the Kawasaki dealership to let the guys know I was back and OK !!!!

Truly I didn’t want to think about motorcycles much, I didn’t even check the Cycle forums that I was a member of, until one of the guys from the Z-1000 forum”Sammy” that I was on called me, we got to talking about if I wanted to ride again, well it lead to us talking Trikes.

I don’t like sidecars or bolt on wheels, Trikes was the only way for me. We went over MANY ideas, but they were just that talk, as I was having to learn just to live life in a new way now.

Time passed and the guys on that forum, RiderForums.com pitched in to buy me a set of hand controls for my car so I could drive it around……..way cool now I’m a menace to society once again !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now this Trike idea was sounding really good, we talked about it on the forums and with my new friend. The idea of getting Monster Garage to build it came up. OK we set out to get them to do just that………… NOPE.
